I have four things I promise my clients:

  1. I will never tell you to stop your negative thoughts; trying to stop thoughts makes things worse.
  2. I will not tell you to love yourself; that comes with healing.
  3. I won’t flip out if you are suicidal or have suicidal thoughts; that is normal with trauma.
  4. I will probably at some time offend you or hurt your feelings because I am human, but I promise to say I am sorry and to try harder to be there for you. Learning to have healthy relationships with boundaries and someone who care is one of the most important parts of the healing journey.
