Cornerstone Family Therapy-Free Therapy Services (with a Student Intern)

How does free therapy work?

  • At CFT we believe it is our responsibility to make sure all people can access quality behavioral health therapy. We offer the option of free (no cost to the client) therapy with one of our student interns. This option allows those clients who cannot afford therapy to receive these services at no cost.

Who qualifies for free therapy?

  • Clients with no insurance coverage
  • Clients that have insurance, but insurance is not accepted at CFT
  • Clients that have insurance, but insurance does not cover behavioral health
  • Clients with high deductible/catastrophic coverage insurance

Screener question:

  • Do you have insurance coverage? (refer to list above to determine eligibility)

Please inquire with potential clients if they need information on applying for Medicaid. If they answer yes, give them the phone number to apply, email them the application information (link below) or hand them a physical copy of the application with a pre-paid envelope.

Payment Methods

  • Debit/Credit Cards
  • In Network Insurance Payments
  • Out of Network Insurance (we can provide Superbills for you to submit to insurance)

-Please check with insurance carrier regarding covered services, in-network status and any co-pays prior to scheduling services. This is the responsibility of the client to ensure their insurance covers therapy fees. Client is fully responsible for any charges that accrue during the course of therapy, regardless of insurance status or any change in coverage.

-While we do have auto-pay available though SimplePractice, clients are responsible for knowing what their payments are for their appointments and their account balances. We unfortunately cannot control if there are issues with the automated systems, so please be sure to stay on top of any balances (copays, coinsurances, deductibles, or out of pocket) that may accrue.

Questions to ask your insurance company regarding coverage:
  • What’s my deductible for in-network mental/behavioral health benefits?
  • Is there a limit on sessions your plan will cover per year? If yes, how many?

  • What types of therapy does my policy cover (the CPT codes are above in parenthesis next to the specific services above)? If yes, how many?

  • How much is my co-payment/co-insurance for mental/behavioral health services?

  • What is the policy year (i.e. Jan 1 – Dec 31)?

  • Does my plan require pre-authorization for psychotherapy?

  • Do I have out-of-network mental/behavioral health benefits and how do these work?
